Terms of service
Last updated: 12 June 2026
The short version
OpenScores is a free public service that exposes football data via MCP and a REST API. You can use it for personal projects, internal tooling, agent workflows, research — anything that fits within fair use. We don't promise any particular uptime or accuracy, and we may rate-limit or revoke keys that abuse the service.
1. What you can do
Use the API to power your own products, agents, research, or tools — commercial or non-commercial.
Cache or transform our responses inside your application.
Mint as many keys as you need from your account dashboard, up to the per-account ceiling shown in the UI.
2. What you can't do
Resell our raw data as your own dataset or as a competing API service.
Scrape or replay the API in a pattern that meaningfully degrades service for other users.
Use the service to facilitate fraud, harassment, doxxing, or any illegal activity.
Share your API key publicly — keys are tied to your account and revoking + re-minting takes seconds.
3. No warranty
The service is provided AS-IS. We make no warranties — express or implied — about availability, accuracy, completeness, or fitness for any particular purpose. Football data is messy upstream; we ingest from public sources and pass on what we have. Don't bet your business on a single number from a single request.
4. Rate limits + enforcement
We apply per-key and per-IP rate limits to keep the service available for everyone. The current thresholds are documented in the docs page and may change as traffic patterns evolve. If your legitimate workload needs more headroom, get in touch — we'd rather raise your limit than have you work around it.
We may suspend or revoke keys that violate these terms. We aim to email first when feasible.
5. Changes to these terms
Material changes will bump the "last updated" date at the top of this page. For substantive changes affecting active users, we'll announce on the changelog. Continuing to use the service after changes are posted means you accept them.
6. Termination
You can stop using the service at any time — revoke your keys from /account and walk away. We can suspend access for violations of these terms. Either way, your account data handling is governed by our privacy policy.
